In the early part of the 20th century, Heartwood Creek thrived on the bounty of the area. Townsfolk built beautiful homes with white picket fences surrounding the gardens. ''Homestead House'' is a fine example of the 2 & 1/2 story homes found on streets with names such as Pleasant Street or Memory Lane. The house also has acrylic windows, a tall slender door and rosemaling grass. Rosemaling and quilt icons are added to the attached fence and porch railings. Quilting patterns etched into the porcelain cover the sides of the house.
